Subject: grip keeps popping off parking brake handle

(Hey Scott, thanks again for the parking brake handle you sold me. It is a huge improvement. I am sending this question to the list also.)

The plastic grip on my replacement parking brake pops off if it is pulled on too hard in the wrong direction. I have cleaned all lubricant off of the metal handle and the grip but my teenager still manages to make it come off at inopportune moments (when I am not around to fix!).

Any suggestions? I have thought of applying some kind of solvent on the inside of the grip that would slightly swell it and perhaps make it more sticky.

(I highly recommend the replacement of parking brake handles on older vanagons with one from a newer model (1985+))
