many tire shops are totally unconscious about the spare tire in my experience. "many' cars are running around with 15 year old original spare tires .. yet as far as I know, they almost never think to advise the customer that it would be a smart idea to replace such and old tire .... and they could easily have a sale on 5 new tires that way, rather than just 4.

I suppose they got into this from many cars having temporary use small spare tires ..so it's not even an option to rotate 5, or replace an aged-out spare tire.

and get this .. in a junk yard I saw a temporary use spare tire on an alloy wheel . Could not believe it ... since the requirements for any small temporary use spare tire and wheel would be to be .. small, light, and cheap .. but this was an honest to goodness alloy temp use spare wheel and tire. By Honda ...it figures. 4 of those would make a cool street custom job, like on a low rider civic or whatever.
