David,

It is a 19mm just like your tire tool so it isn't really dumb, it is actually a convenient idea. However when it hasn't been out in a million years the bolt can get seized and also the standard tire tool can crack if you put too much pressure on it and that will make it slip on this nut. It is best to carry a 19mm impact socket and breaker bar with you. You can pick one up for cheap at your local Advance Auto or Autozone and it will help getting the lug nuts off as well. Some times when you get new tires put on they use an air wrench and getting them off with the stock tire tool just isn't going to work. Just buy the tool and throw it under the back seat. Then you will never need it again :-) -- Thanks, Ken Wilford John 3:16 www.vanagain.com Phone: 856-327-4936 Fax: 856-327-2242

Nut is very tight has not been removed in over 10 years but I desperately need to get my spare tire out and mounted. I tried WD40 but its real diffuicult to apply it and so far it refuses to yield and the socket continually slips. Anyone got any ideas? Personally, I think the whole concept of needing a special tool to access the spare tire is a dumb design. >
