Naturally you have to go for the t-stat .. at least remove and test ..for any weird thing like this.

somehow I end up with boxes of waterboxer t-stats .. I just test about 4 at a time .. put the ones that open too soon, or way to late , in the metal recycling pile... and the good 87 C ones .. I like those just fine...german ones that is.

I put in an 80 C one recently ..just to see what it would do .. temp needle runs just to the low side of the LED .. cooler than desired for winter or early spring ..

if you ever do get hot engine and cold radiator .. ( and you know it's not the t-stat or a leak somewhere .) . you start to think about exhaust gases getting into the coolant at the heads/head gaskets . when that happen . no coolant will circulate .. it looks and acts just like the main pipes are blocked .. but they are not .. it's that exhaust gases displace the coolant in the engine ....and it overheats. This syndrome can happen ...'just barely' and thus be illusive, or it can be intermittent . I hope you don't have that going.

but always go for the t-stat first on any running hotter than desired, first. it's nice n' easy on the 2.1 as long as the screws on the t-stat cover unscrew properly. Scott www.turbovans.com
