running a directional tire backwards won't harm it ..
it just reduces the effectiveness of the tread pattern, in terms of things
like wet stopping traction for example.....
so I have read.
( and for sure ...with directional tires ...if your spare is directional
..it'll be right for one side of the van and not right for the other . )
