Obviously something got hot. Did you overcrank, perhaps, keeping the juice to the solenoid for a prolonged time? Either way, I would go ahead with the relay install, though it would be wise to repair that wire. BTW why are you installing the hard start relay? We never discussed that. Usually, this relay install is done to reduce wear on the ignition switch and also helps when the trip wire to the solenoid has resistance due to corrosion/age. Miguel
