that's how you make sure your 'whatever' doesn't fail.. if you carry a spare ... if/when there is a problem ...it's likely to be with something than what you brought spares for.

it's like insurance .. bring one, and you won't have the running one fail.

My spare ECU has done 100k of driving under the rear seat and never been needed...(knock on wood)
