What the poster said, read down, is that the NEW vehicle must meet the California standards to be registered. So, the Washington standard is now matched to the California standard. In effect, this means that you can't go to, say, Texas, and buy a car and register it first time in Washington, unless it is a California compliant vehicle. And btw, some sold nationally are, just not all. I assume that dealers in Washington now will only sell Washington (California) compliant new vehicles.

What's wrong with this? It helps us all.
