The bay area has no boating community? No marinas?? Go figure. There were certainly no shortage of them when I lived there.

Oh! Wait! There ARE chandlers in the bay area still!

Motorcycle cables pull. Boat cables push and pull. Automatic transmission cables push and pull. Though maybe not on a Vanagon. I've not dug that deep into it.
