to clean old gasket off sometimes I use a razor blade very carefully .. and spray carb cleaner. There is also 'gasket remover' in a can .. it's like paint remover ..nasty stuff. Sometimes that works.

you 'could' just goop it up too.. thought that's not very good workmanship . for that I use either .. 'permatex red high tack gasket sealer.'

The Right Stuff

or Toyota Black silicone sealant.

but clean gasket surfaces, with new gaskets with permatex Hi Tack is the best I think. the intake gaskets fit two ways .. only one is really right. I see backwards installed ones semi-commonly.

be extra careful about leaks at the intke runner boots....those like to leak. I use a 'listening tube' to fine intake leaks sometimes ...a two foot long hose, about 3/8 inch ID. scott www.turbovans.com
