the way to get the old windshield out without hurting it .. is .. just cut the seal with a razor knife.

as long as you know you have a new seal.. that's the safest way to remove an old but good windshield.

going back together ..you can try the string method or whatever you like..and probably not hurt things if you don't succeed. Then call the windshield guy. for just installing one with a new seal that you already have .. they might not charge much .....40 at the low 60ish at the high.

whether it leaks or not is another issue. If you have them install it ...and things look good .. they might take responsibilty to make sure it's well sealed against leakage.
