Flattened forests from that tsunami, as well as other debris fields occur pretty far inland. I've forgotten the distance and elevation, but it is impressive. And folks in Crescent City, California died in the 1964 tsunami.

Why denigrate the warnings, when the consequences of not warning could be so devastating?
