Fortunately I have not had to mess with any of those for a long time.

forget what we call them .. a 'squeeze clip ' .. it goes in a groove on the end of a pin .. for a parking brake lever where it pivots on a brake shoe .. like on old VW Buses perhaps.

Nicely, vanagons have that part built in to the shoe the way they come.
