One of the most important things you can keep around the house is a tankful
of stabilized fuel in portable containers. Other than that, I have, as
others have, my stuff on shelves to quickly grab. I have my camping, family
and business travel checklists on an iPod app called SimpList. It's free or
nearly. At a glance I can tell what I need to grab for what, without
thinking about it. Things get checked as they go in the camper and checks
turned off as it is unloaded. I use it dozens of times each year, and if I
obey the list I don't mess up. I haven't created an emergency checklist yet,
but after following this post I am prompted to.
If the roads are totally messed up, well, that's a whole different deal.
Around here we aren't going to have any Tsunamis. Probably no earth quakes.
But tornados, yes, so I should add a chain saw and gas to an emergency
checklist.
