Hi Jeff and Others
He is basically looking for a driver that the Motor went in so He can go
through it and swap the motor. He really has no interest in a dead rusty
lawn ornament or a good running driver or do nothing perfect rig. Should
be under 3k for bum motor and or trans. He also has no issue with fixing
brakes, and most anything mechanical. Just prefer not to do much in the
rust department. Everything else is just bolt on. Must be worth what it
is need of.
I got my 85 westy for 1500 and it ran but very crappy. Still put tons
into it but I wanted to have it that way so I could fix when broken. He
is basically looking for the same thing. But willing to pay a bit more
for the right vanagon.
He is not looking to keep the stock motor in since all of them are aging
and getting to be a bit harder to find parts for.
Hope that helps
Thanks Jonce

An '84 with a blown motor for
$6K?, Thats ridiculous. My last Westy was an '84 with a blown motor,
owned by the original owners granddaughter, and I got it for $1,200.00.
Now some might think even that was too much, but it was in excellent
condition and I was to find out later it had the gas heater option, which
worked great once I flushed out the mouse that had taken up residence in
the exhaust pipe! Jeff

Minimal rust is OK but when you see rust in Michigan you KNOW it
is

from Michigan. Rockers gone Nothing but holes. Just scary at so many
levels.

Anything out there within say 300 +- miles of Ann Arbor
Michigan?

We know of 2 local but an 84 with blown motor and wanting 6k for
it

is a bit much. The other local one smells of dead rodent so it is
out

since we will probably never find the carcass.

>>Hi all

>>Do not usually post this sort of thing but a Friend of mine
is

>>looking for a Vanagon of water cooled decent!

>>Prefer poptop version weekender or other camper conversion of
sorts.

>>We live in the rust belt of Michigan so Rust has played its
game on

>>many of the VWs in the local area and not many to choose from
at all.

>>He is a ASE certified mechanic and has full intentions of
a

>>Conversion to Zetec or something else. He does not care about
the

>>mechanics that much since it can all be fixed. Body and rust
must be

>>in good shape. He is Located just outside of Ann Arbor
Michigan and

>>has been doing the samba gig looking in Michigan, Ohio,
Penn,

>>Wisconsin, and Illinois. This vehicle will be for himself not
to flip

>>so if you have or know of a Vanagon that needs a good home
that will

>>be taken care of let me know and I will pass it on to him. He
has

>>asked me to post this since he does not have a vanagon does
not want

>>to get on the list. So in turn I am doing this for him.

>>This is not a scam. Most of you know who I am, Or have a
product on

>>your camper that I made.

>>Thanks a Bunch
