So, your friend is looking for a rust free van with good transmission and
faulty engine. Rust free is only at certain areas. And coastal areas with
rust free vans are probably only on the west coast. Here in WA state, they
are mostly rust free, but eastern Washington has salty road in winter. The
vans I see here are totally rust free in the bottom and only seam rust on
some of them that comes from the inside to out. The built up condensation
settles in the bottom of the insulation and keeps the seams wet all year
round. The best is to change all the glass fibre insulation with one that
absorbs no liquid. And maybe, after cleaning out the seams from the rust,
put POR 15 on them, twice, to end the rusting from the inside out.
So, there are many here in WA state without rust. Many are standing around
in yards waiting to get crushed.
