Subject:      Fasten Seat Belt Lights Not working

My friend has Stick Shift Vanagon and I noticed on his van that his "fasten seatbelt lights" come on when he puts the key in, it also makes a sound as well but mine does not.

What is my van missing that his has? I wouldn't mind seeing the "fasten seatbelt lights" come on when inserting the key.

My van is an 88 Automatic.
