Two other listmembers posted that the earlier style bracket does not have the square hole and carriage bolt. Now I just have to get a mirror back there to see what my '84 has.

If I did have the carriage bolt and needed to remove it to replace with a regular bolt, I was going to take a Dremel and cut off the nut and push the bolt back through.
