Erm...can be done, but you'll have a much easier time of it with a fifteen or twenty watt iron. Well - a somewhat easier time, I guess. Everything's out in the open there, plenty of room. Just be absolutely sure to leave slack in all the leads but most especially the reed switch ones. You'll have to resolder all the existing ones. Once that's done the wand will be able to flex a bit without instant disaster.

d ps - it goes without saying, but - electronic flux-cored 60/40 or 63/37 solder. Don't even think of plumbing solder and flux.
