That's kind of the idea.

If we get an earthquake here our little 1949 beach cottage will probably fall off the cinder block foundation and be uninhabitable. I think we can stay in Dixie for a long time, limited only by our ability to get to fresh water supplies. The Nicomekl River is nearby and there is a creek coming down off the peninsula so I think we'd be fine that way.

We have propane enough to cook for weeks and we could work our way through the freezer on the porch. Its not usually cold enough here that we need to worry about running out of gas for the van. If we run it once in a while to keep the batteries up the tank will last a long time.

If it were summer or fall we'd have the garden to eat out of too. Kale and leeks are year round crops here.

Lets hope it doesn't come down to that eh?
