See if you can insert a tube, or put a tube on the outside to match the O.D. of the flange so you can make a good stiff joint there - unless the circuit board doesn't extend up that far, in which case some flex there would be a great idea. Been years since I've been inside one, I've forgotten. Last one I did was a terrifically over-engineered one for Malcolm Stebbins while I was in the middle of coming apart myself.
