Yes, as it works fine in the Auto Trans (mine), it should be just fine
for the Power Steering as well.  Dexron has had several "upgrades"
since the 60s.  When the Vanagon came out, there was Dexron II and
then Dexron III.  Dex/Merc is just the latest incarnation.
