Subject:      absolutely no VC - about lamps going on and off

Does anyone know why some floor lamps (especially halogen lamps) go on and
off all the time?  And how to fix it?  I really like halogen lamps, but it
is way too annoying to deal with.  The lamp in question has a three-way
switch, two levels of light - it does this at either level.

Is this something I can fix?

Please reply off line, since this has nothing to do with vanagons, and no
doubt by the time anyone replies it will no longer be Friday.
