It would take 8 C cells, too.  They are all 1.5V.  So it takes 8
to get 12V.  Eight Cs would last a lot longer, but solution, as
pointed out, is to wire the gizmo in to your Vanagon.  You'll
still need the giant economy packs for your camera and other
necessities of modern Vanagon camping life.  ;-)
