       I was in the maroon Westy you waved to.   I could not wave outside, I did wave inside, as I had the windows up and the AC on.   Oh how that sounds so Weird ! !   I have owned probably over 10 vw's and never had an AC that worked.   The VW tent worked well to keep the sun out and temps down.  
      Any how, Hope your trip went well as mine did.   Camped out at Somerville Lake and just chilled out with a bunch of Classic trailers.  I think I was newest only 22 years old, 1989.  Most were 1950 and 1960 classics.
