The control cable that flaps the footwell vents (second cable from the bottom on the ventilation control panel) failed a few months ago. I have a new one coming from Van-Cafe. I have a choice: take it to the mechanic for R&R or do it myself. How tough a job is the DIY approach? Save a few bucks if I do it myself, but don't want to dig into it if it's a nightmare. Mechanic said he had to drop the spare tire, etc., to get up in there. BTW, I asked him to quote pulling the ventilation out box and refreshing the flap seals. He reckons it would be about $500, this based on the hours involved times his shop rate. That's sufficiently high to make me want to either (a) live with it, or (b) do it myself and it doesn't sound like much fun. -- Rocky J Squirrel '84 Westfalia: Mellow Yellow ("The Electrical Banana") '74 Westrailia: (Ladybug Trailer company, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.)
