I´ve been driving a 30V 2,8 in my Vanagon from 2000-2004 and for one
year now in my ´02 Passat 4WD (on LPG).
Except the excessive fuel consumption, this engine is free of any problems.
I only wonder where the technical optimization has gone, when I see the
previous 12V (174 instead of 193hp) getting better mileage than the 30V.
Anyway, the previous Passat (B4 or 35i) was kind of smaller, but had
more space inside. It was a great car with the 2,0 16V.
I liked it.
My current B5 is nice and sure has major improvements on safety (ABS,
Airbag, ESP etc), but the ten years of engineering against the 35i are
somewhat disappointing.
What the hell was the intention of this front 4-arm suspension?!
