2 U-bolts and nuts holding it in. I checked it yesterday and after 3 months, still tight and secure. Also a cable lock on the DS locked to the rack. They would have to either remove the Yakima mounts(locked) or cut the cable, or just spend 30 minutes unscrewing the rack from the the Yakima mounts to get the whole rack in one piece. I worry a little, so I like the pillar mount idea. BTW-A 60 inch Hi-Lift lays perfectly longways in the passenger area right behind the front and back seats so keep it out of the elements. Thanks, Squirrel. P.S.S. The rack is actually a rear mount cargo rack for a hitch mount, but got it on CL and gonna get some longhorns to mount into the unused hitch on the rack so I can be more Texas. ???? Or maybe a top mounted spotlight for steath. We will see after I upgrade the headlight relay. c ya. Michael in San Antonio 91GL Weekender AT 2.1L 'Gringo'
