Sounds like the bone yard for you!

If you find a Vanagon, consider buying the entire lever assembly with cables
attached. A bit more work, but might be a better deal than buying just one
cable.

If no Vanagons, maybe a Mk2 or Mk3 VW uses similar or same? If so, with any
luck, you'll find one with dash already apart. If you know the length you
need, just cut off a cable, strip back some of the black stuff, and make yer
own "Z" bends.
