A reminder that we still have that way-below-cost closeout deal on the Bosch version of those Hellas, which are comparable to the Hellas if not better. They are considered the gold standard among Bus owners, whose lighting is about the same as on the Vanagon. .(See the review at http://www.ratwell.com/technical/BoschH4.html .) At $44 a pair (not each!) they are not just half price but actually WAY below wholesale.

You can buy these by themselves with a pair of 60/55 watt H4 bulbs and use your existing wiring (drop-em-in installation, no relay required):

Or as part of our VisionKit, which adds a relay kit with simple instructions and high-output bulbs, and is still only $99 complete thanks to the included half-price headlights:

For '86-up Vanagon owners, our VisionKit 2 includes relays, instructions, and high-output bulbs that are direct replacements for your stock bulbs. The $75 price was made possible by another closeout buy. We got a factory closeout on the included Hella High Intensity bulbs, which reduced the kit price considerably while improving lighting quality:

Any of these solutions will DRAMATICALLY improve your lighting for not a lot of money. Actually, in terms of "bang for the buck," I can't think of any other performance improvement you could make to your Vanagon that would make this much of a difference for this low a price.

Usual disclaimers apply, check local laws, non-stock lighting is legal for off-road use only, yada yada yada,
