Beyond privacy laws, it would be jes' plain rude to publish personal info without permission. OTOH, I believe that anyone interested in being on this list/map should simply supply whatever info he/she wishes to have privately public.

Link it to picasa gallery with a photo for each owner? Using face recognition for the camper and driver will make it very personal. You will want to make sure you get everyone's permission as part of the "registration" to publish the info, since there are privacy laws galore. And make sure you handle ZIP & Cdn Postal codes... would be good to handle the rest of the world too, of course.
