I have had an oil pressure gauge on my 2.1l water boxer for years and
year. On the highway, fully warmed up, I am seeing between 30 and 40
psi depending on speed and rpm. When you first start the car up on a
cold morning it may go as high as 70 psi. At hot idle you are looking
at around 7-10 (maybe 12 if you are not super hot).
Of course this is an engine that has been rebuilt by me about 20k miles
ago. Very healthy oil pressure for a water boxer in my experience.
Before I rebuilt the engine the oil pressure was less (300k miles on the
original engine will do that) and it still went down the road.
Hope this helps,
Ken Wilford
