dear insurance
after reading that Hartford Causality wrote you ... it solidifies ....
and this is why a policy must have an "Agreed Value" of insured $
we drive high end antique vehicles that require to be rebuilt by hand and
often with special tools specific to this vehicle only
if you dont believe me drive you r Vanagon to a Lithia VW dealership and ask
the service writer if they have anyone on staff familiar with these ...
it is my guess they will gather around with jaw hanging open in wonder and
amazement as was my experience in the columbia river dalles and *Sausalito*
, *CA*
** .... in Sausalito the service writer was actually very cool ... Manny ...
he even lent me a couple of tools to do my repair ... which he allowed in
the parking lot ....
took me nearly 4 hours ... 3 years ago
but having said that no one in the store was actually familiar with Vanagon
...
so my point is ...
lets stop trying to be hairy legged birkenstock sorts with the chartreuse
micro bus (Convoy the song) and face up to the fact that we are above
average citizens with a very cool vehicle that meets nearly all the safety
requirements that are important to life and limb ... and pay up as we can
afford to ... to make the insurance we want to have ...
and if you want to ride around in a motor home classed and insured as a car
or dump cart as your insurer or state may allow ten you have already
forfeited your right to complain when they write you a cheque for "fair
market value" if they write a cheque at all
it is now becoming a full generation ago++ that Vanagon T 2 to T 25 was even
built or sold ... as new ...
get your insurance after an accredited surveyor has appraised and pronounced
the vehicle value ...
next week i will be appearing on Antiques Road Show with my vanagon ...
there i will describe the story of how gerry garcia was actually conceived
of in the upper bunk while leonard cohen wrote songs like dress rehearsal
drag .... in the jump seat .... signatures of all written in indelible
marker including the soon to be famous and just conceived gerry garcia
Link to dress rehearsal rag for those who wish ...
