Subject: Wanted - Horn actuator (horn switch) for '88 GL
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I found my horn problem and it's not field repairable.

The center section of the steering wheel - the cover cap and horn actuator - on my '88GL van has a broken spring retainer post and a missing spring. Consequently the metal parts inside are always in contact, and when the ignition switch is activated, the horn blows. This probably is a VW specific part available through the VW dealerships only - if it's even available. I would like to avoid dealership costs if I can.

Has anyone got one of these beasties in black they care to sell?

Part Num: 255 419 699 or 255 419 699 D

Thanks,

John
