Golly heck yes! If you don't see that red light right there in front on your instrument panel.... maybe you should take the Big Bus...the one with a real driver. Then you can gaze out the windows, daydream, do whatever without being responsible.

Maybe the new cars have a hand that pops out and slaps you and an Onstar voice that says "Wake up, dim wit" if you ignore your Idiot Lights... or something like that...and some have all kinds of fail safe systems that won't allow you to ignore something you should really be paying attention to, considering you may be behind the wheel of a 4000lb projectile traveling in the 70-80mph range...a projectile you may have hocked a large portion of your spendable income to own....A good driver pays attention to his surroundings and to the state of his vehicle...period. A bad driver? Probably drives a Pious, trades it in for a new one each year, and maybe needs all those air bags..

I wonder how many drivers are even aware that when they first turn on the key...or let the vehicle read their retinal pattern or enter the name of their first pet to get the thing ready to start....that all those lights and flashing buzzing things are supposed to be telling him/her that all the warning systems are functioning? I bet most people never even glance at the dash till they have their belts fastened and they maybe want to see what time they are getting started, or perhaps see if they can get there with the gas in the tank.
