IIRC, use contact cleaner to sanitize your field, then coat with Dielectric to keep it clean and non-corroded. Dielectric doesn not conuct electricty, but protects the connection.

Hmmmmmmmm. Am I all wet, or don't those things like "dielectric grease" squeeze out of the connection when it is tightened up, and don't actually conduct electricity themselves? They just make making the connection more certain and protect it (by coating non-contact surfaces) from corrosion, if I understand correctly. They are only needed in the case of connections that may be exposed to the elements or perhaps to fluids and other corrosive agents, but not needed in such places as in the steering column, which are always dry and contain no fluids to damage the connections.

If I am all wet, tell me so with explanation. Thanks, mcneely
