When it comes to hardware nothing needs more attention to detail than suspension parts. Damaged threaded parts should be replaced. The nut and washer is special. The nut is a class 10.9 all metal (prevailing torque) lock nut. Also note the eccentric washers are available in different thicknesses.

Hi all.

Over kill, but want to make sure.

Am replacing upper control arm bushings.

Nut on driver side shaft was tortured by PO. Was able to save threads on shaft, ("whew") with another nut having cleaner threads, penetrating oil, careful back/forth.

I don't know if it's the same grade. Nut likely came off a Vanagon (from ?) Stamps are hard to see.

Does the nut grade matter much in this application? I suspect not, but double checking.

Thanks,

Neil.
