sure, distilled water would be 'better' ..but something is wrong with me... I have used tap water mixed 50/50 with high quality anti-frz in about litterally 1,000 cars and some vanagons for the last 25+ years .. the tap water must be great wherever I live. No problems ever.

my personal trick that works super well is add a half cup or so of water soluble machinist's oil as a rust inhibitor and water pump lubricant. I have done that to hundreds of cars and all vanagons I work on .. it works just great.
