Assuming the electrical connections are uber clean (especially grounds)..... On my Jetta swap, I used: Hastings gauge + it's sensor in coolant outlet on head (stock location). Possibly used Hastings gauge with Jetta coolant sensor, same location. Jetta sensor now used with a WBX temp gauge. (Jetta and WBX sensor may have same specs (resistance vs temp chart) All combinations seem to be more accurate than what you're seeing. Currently, WBX gauge reads dead center, climbing/lowering slightly depending on conditions. My guess is you're still dealing with either a wiring issue, or sensor placement. (are you using the stock location? Can't see why one wouldn't) Of note, my aftermarket gauge took 12V power from 15 (ign. on). If I'm not mistaken, the WBX gauge uses ~ 10 volts as supplied from the voltage stabilizer. I **highly** doubt tech could or would take power for aftermarket gauge from the Vanagon inst. cluster power but...... Neil.
