I'll try that, but to be honest its not a big chore to pop the brake stuff off. I have a set of brake tools that makes it somewhat easier.

One thing I found was that there was a fair bit of dirt and some rust behind the bearing housing, in the trailing arm. I can imagine it being much worse in some parts of the world.

PS the syncro has a better way, a screw and P-clip, to hold the parking brake line to the trailing arm than my old '82 had. It had a plastic clip that was not secure.
