Good luck and wear gloves!

Here's what I do in case you are interested. I remove my joints and put them in coffee cans submerged in lacquer thinner for a few days, shaking them a few times a day. When they come out they are clean like a new penny. Then I lube them up and reinstall them on the shafts with new rubber. After I assemble each end, I put a square of rag over it and wrap it with a cable tie so I can handle it getting it back on (not to mention getting the other end installed) without the things coming apart until I am ready.

The soaking in solvent makes for no cleaning.

Jim
