Subject: There are 2 different brown velour interiors in 84-85 Westys?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Wait...where there two different brown velour fabric patterns on the 84-85 Westfalias?

Upgrading my interior I grabbed one brown/tan velour captain's chair which I thought came out of an 84 or 85 GL Westfalia. Today I grabbed another which I also thought came from the same model and years. (neither was still in a bus when I got it)

They are closely similar. Both have the short non-adjustable arms. Both have seemingly the same velour fabric wrapping the arms and on the outside portion of the cushion for the bottom and seat back cushion.

BUT the the center velour panel through the seat cushion and the seat back cushion on one is a kind of zig-zag pattern and on the other I would say is a tiny medallion shaped pattern.

The seat with the zigzag is a slightly lighter color leaning toward tan and the medallion pattern seems slightly more to the chocolate side of tan. I could account some of this to fading, but not the difference in the patterns.

(The sides and back of the seats both seem to be the same color tan naugahyde/ plastic type material.

Does anyone know the year the velour fabric changed? Or were the different patterns matched with specific body colors on the Vanagon?

This will help me in trying to match a seat to the seat with the medallion shaped pattern.

Thanks. Best, Jeff 83.5 Westy LA,CA
