I have seen some repaired by using a homemade metal plate bolted there, but it usually is a last resort temporary fix... Some of the guys back in your neck O' the woods are pretty creative for corrosion related fixes. We just repl the housing of course. I have this transmission that was given to me after I helped take it and the engine out. An eyelet that takes a bolt was broken off as you can see here http://www.westyvideos.com/misc.aspx .

Can that be fixed?

Thanks, Bryan
