I would recommend the scissor type jack. 1. the sliding door can be opened when jack in place at right rear position. Good if you want to use jack as brace when camping 2. If you have the stock 4 wheel VW mudflaps, the vertical post type jack can rub on the front flaps and abrade them. It is a Vanagon jack, I don't see why Scott dismisses them with no reason. alistair
