The comment about abrasion reminded me of something.

When you talk with Earl's or anyone familiar with braided steel lines they may forget to tell you this because everyone knows. The steel braid will act like a saw on what ever rubs against it.

Say for example you decide to use it as brake line. When it is installed it will be touching nothing. That may change when you hit a bump and the wheel travels up. If the braid rubs against a piece of metal or plastic very quickly it will rub a hole right through it.

As was stated the fittings can be finicky. Some advice is after you decide what you want to buy go to your local speed shop where you can buy the hose. Bring your fittings and have them show you how to assemble them. It is not difficult, the is a proper way to do it.

One other item. Buy the correct tools. If your AN fittings are aluminum buy the correct aluminum wrench. If you need to flare ends by the correct flaring tool. If you are going to bend some tubing buy the correct tubing pliers.

Takes a little practice and after you are done it sure looks good. I do all of my own fuel and brake lines. My current daily driver is a '40 Hudson. I bent the tubing for both. The brake lines have AN fittings and braided steel lines. The fuel lines are standard fuel hose on barbed fittings.
