Per the VW Owner's Manual:

- no swivel seat: under the driver's seat

- swivel seat: under the bench seat

Suzie, I have found from limited use that the original, screw type, one legged jack works fine. Of course, one wants to take all proper precautions using it.

yes, the normal place of residence for the jack is under the rear seat. However, there may be other places an owner may have stashed it. Come to think of it, not really -- it is too long to fit in most of them.
