and this is also why an Ontario gentlemen is importing a rather rust-free and undented 83 Westy from here.

oh I've seen some rust all right. like oh ... say rusted away to nothing syncro fuel tank straps, so badly rusted PS metal lines they spew ATF as soon as the PS belt is put on. a left front disc brake 'backing plate' just rusted until you couldn't tell it ever had one. a very sticky/bindy ball joint, making steering very stiff and of course rusted to nothing brake lines. and holes right through the body .........like you could stick a baseball bat through them they're so big...right into the main cabin , and suspension arms just 'gone' .. on and on .. the poor vans. Which oughta make the non-rusted vanagons I have for sale pretty valuable !
