It's Texas... home of the "he needed killin" defense. Do you really need a good reason to shoot someone?
Just joking. Don't get your panties in a bunch (some don't have much of a sense of humor).
Cheers,
Jeff

Sure, but you need to prove it all to a judge and jury, because you will be prosecuted in a court of law.
Dont just go on a googled statement, speak to the police, ask what your rights are under the local laws.

I was just gonna wing him :-) BTW-I CAN shoot to kill to protect myself or even a neighbor or anyone else (in Texas) if danger of physical injury is immenent. I googled it ;-)

Theft is not punishable by death in any US court that I know of.
Injuring the thief will make you liable for his injuries and future disabilities.
Start a neighborhood watch organization, and the police will gladly assist you and inform of your rights.
I used to attend when I was living in the city of Phoenix, and your neighbors are the best insurance against theft and gang crimes.
Everyone watching out for everyone else, it's your best defense when police cooperation is part of the solution.
Vigilante justice could end you up in jail, and add you and your family to the list for gang relataliation if it was a member.
Do the right thing to protect your home, stuff and family.

Dave...I still owe you an apology from the comment I made to you last week.
I apologize.
Now, we have alot of breakins in my neighborhood because it is a nice
neighborhood. Mostly lawn companies driving through and stealing stuff. I
am on the neighborhood watch, I mow about 7 old folks yards every week or
two and I take care of the subdivision entrance(painting, mowing, trimming
trees, etc) What i will not put up with is someone coming into my place and
messing with my stuff. if you need something, ask me. You'll most likely
get it. I even give stuff to listmembers for free.
There are home invasions in San Antonio almost every day. I have loaded
firearms in EVERY room that i can get to quickly because I am not a sucker
and I know how to use them. I will not apologize for potecting my family and
what is mine.
I do appreciate your comments, though and, again, I apologize for my comment
to you last week. Have a good weekend.
BTW-Will get an alarm tomorrow(I want one of those that puts 50K volts in
someone who tries to break in, in case anyone knows where I can get one of
those. hehehe

Michael, you did not find him raping your wife. I understand your feeling
of violation. But, you found that your van had been looked through, with
evidently nothing taken, nothing damaged. Your damage deterrent of leaving
the doors unlocked to prevent someone breaking the windows to get in worked.
Shooting someone is a pretty strong response to a petty crime. Typically
such crimes are committed by children if in a middle class neighborhood, or
by homeless folks just hoping to get by in less swanky locations.
I've had my disagreements with Jake, but I hope your response that your are
going to sleep in your van with a weapon at ready was a bit of hyperbole due
to the feeling of invasion of the moment. I hope that with time, a cooler
emotion might prevail.
