They deliver power to the power things within the sliding door, which is an
"island" from the rest of the wired chassis. Obviously, they only work when
the door is closed, but that's all that is needed. They make a connection
between the B-pillar and the front of the slider door jamb. The stock
later-model ones are very nice, but more than you need for just power
actuators. I'm sure the ones on the kit are fine.
