Hey Scott.

As per Alistairs comment, this speedometer has 2 metal holes. Knock out (if OEM) was already removed.

It was purchased from diesel Vanagon in a CA junk yard. Maybe not the original speedometer?

I have a spare '85 speedometer, but it's "iffy" (cracked, maybe noisy) so wanted to use the diesel part. It uses the clip style speedometer cable and I have the long cable. Thanks.

And yes; have a VSS from a Mk3 I want to install. Exactly right! Not sure if it'll make any performance difference but figured I might as well wire it to ECU. (Motronic 2.9)

Neat tip on modifying the mile counter box. Would never have known.

I'm being type A though. I'll see if I have a small tap and just be done with it. SAE or Metric.

Neil.
